About

My name is Marissa Adams

Marissa Adams serves as the founder and Executive Director of SIS Sisters in Service Inc., which was fueled by her dedication to aiding youth and families, especially children exposed to trauma. With a background in social work, education, advocacy, mentorship, and entrepreneurship, Marissa's early life in California was marked by adversity, including exposure to gangs, poverty, teen pregnancy, community violence, and food scarcity. These challenges shaped her journey from a troubled, lost middle schooler and high school dropout to a master’s degree graduate and child development expert, with a deep-seated commitment to inspiring young people to achieve their fullest potential.

Residing in Cavalier Manor, Portsmouth, since 2005, Marissa has tirelessly worked for the welfare of youth and their families. Her activities within the community reflect her belief in the power of motivating and empowering the younger generation, which she sees as her true purpose. Committed to advocating for youth needs, Marissa actively supports developmental programs and encourages community collaboration, aiming to create a positive impact on the lives of young individuals. Her passion in life is to uplift and motivate the youth to show up as their best selves daily
